Anapneo
From Hpwiki
Logic would suggest that Anapneo was derived from quite well-known Greek roots.
A- or an- means not or un. (Hence a-tom, not cuttable; an-algesia, no pain; an-archy, no ruler.)
Pneu- is the root for breath, as in pneumatic or pneumonia. Thus Anapneo would either stop breathing, or create a sensation of having shortness of breath.
Used in the books:
- Professor Slughorn uses it in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to cleary Marcus Belby's airway when he chokes
