Battle of Hogwarts

The Battle of Hogwarts is the final battle of the war. It takes place on May 2, 1998 (ITV documentary, December 2007) on the grounds of and in the castle of Hogwarts.

Technically, this would be the Second Battle of Hogwarts, the first taking place the year before and resulting in Dumbledore's Death. This battle, however, is far grander in score and scale.

It is fought between the Death Eaters and a mixed side including members of the Order of the Pheonix, Dumbledore's Army, and any "of age" Hogwarts students. The battle lasts approximately 3-4 hours. It is described as complete chaos. Spells are flying everywhere, giants and spiders arrive and the castle is being destroyed.

Although Harry's side triumphs, many are killed.

Remus Lupin (killed by a Death Eater named Dolohov)

Nymphadora Tonks (killed while searching for her husband Remus, many believe it was Bellatrix)

Bellatrix Lestrange (killed by Molly Weasley)

Lord Voldemort (killed by Harry Potter)

And countless others who remain unnamed.
