Bellatrix Lestrange (neé Black) (nicknamed Bella) is a Death Eater witch who, together with her husband Rodolphus, brother-in-law Rabastan, and Barty Crouch, Jr., is responsible for the Crucio-ing of the Longbottoms into madness. She was sentenced to Azkaban and escapes from there in Harry's fifth year.
Bellatrix has two sisters. One is Andromeda Tonks, the other is Narcissa Malfoy. Bellatrix is also a cousin of Sirius Black and to Regulus Black (who was also a Death Eater. Sirius was murdered by Bellatrix in the Department of Mysteries in the Ministry of Magic during Harry's 5th year at Hogwarts. Regulus was killed by Inferi in the cave where the locket of Slytherin (one of Voldemort's horcruxes) was hidden. The information about Regulus' death is from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and is important in the book to help assist in the destruction of all the Horcruxes that Voldemort has created.
Bellatrix met her end thanks to Molly Weasley, as she tried to kill her daughter Ginny Weasley, in the Battle of Hogwarts during the final book.
