| Cormac means "son of defilement." Cormac was the son of a King in Celtic legend. He was on a mission when he was put under a spell by a jealous lover of one of his competitors. |
Cormac McLaggen is Gryffindor seventh-year, large and wiry-haired. Hunts nogtails with his Uncle Tiberius, along with Bertie Higgs and Rufus Scrimgeour. Tries out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, but loses to Ron mainly because of Hermione's well-placed Confundus Charm.
Hermione takes him to Slughorn's Christmas party to make Ron jealous, but regrets it after he shows his egocentricity. Is made Keeper after Ron is poisoned, but alienates the team, especially Captain Harry, by trying to lead. He is finally booted after hitting Harry in the head with a Bludger during a game.
