Diricawl

A Diricawl is a plump-bodied, fluffy-feathered, flightless bird originating in Mauritius. When threatened, Diricawls can vanish in a puff of feathers and reappear somewhere else. According to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, Muggles knew the Diricawl as the dodo bird and believed that the vanishing nature of the birds was due to the extinction of the species by Muggle hunters.
