Expelliarmus is the incantation of a charm used for disarming an opponent in a wizard's duel. It emits a flash of scarlet light and if used skilfully will result in the opponent being blasted off their feet in addition to the removing of their wand.

The spell was used by Professor Snape against Professor Lockhart in a demonstration at the Duelling Club in second year. Later skilfully applied against both of these teachers, Lockhart in the same year, Snape a year later.

This spell also happens to be the one that Harry Potter uses in the duel with Lord Voldemort in fourth year, although Zacharias Smith disagrees about its usefulness.

Expelliarmus

Expelliarmus is combination for Expelliant+arm+mus. Mus is to change the word to spell, and means `make arm go away' which can be described as disarm. It is one of Harry Potter's favourite attack in duel, and his shield against Voldemort's Avada Kedavra
