Elder Wand

Also known through the ages as the Deathstick or the Wand of Destiny
The Elder Wand is the first of the three Deathly Hallows, the other two being the Resurrection Stone and the Cloak of Invisibility.
According to the Tale of the Three Brothers, this Wand was originally created by Death himself. The Wand is said to be unbeatable in any duel.
Originally possessed by Antioch Peverell, it was eventually stolen from him, and Antioch was killed by the thief. This led to a "right of succession" legacy of the wand, a pattern of changing hands by death,
The Wand eventually came into the possession of the Wandmaker Gregorovitch who had the Wand stolen from him by Grindelwald, who lost it to Dumbledore, who was buried with it, however when Draco Malfoy use the Expelliarmus Spell on Dumbledore shortly before his death, the Wand's power transferred to him, despite the wand still being buried with Dumbledore. In turn, when Harry Potter wrestled Draco's wand from him after escaping from the dungeon underneath the Drawing Room in Malfoy Manor, it caused the Elder Wand to pass its allegiance to Harry, making him the true master of the Elder Wand. Voldemort, not knowing this, tried to kill Harry with the Elder Wand, leading to the backfire of his Killing Curse, and Voldemort´s death.
When Snape killed Dumbledore he did not become the master of the wand because the death was planned out, therefore Snape did not actually 'defeat Dumbledore'. As Voldemort did not realize this he believed that Snape was the true master of the wand, and by killing him he assumed that he would become the wand´s true master.
