| Firenze is the Italian name for Florence. Florence was the same city that the famous astronomer Galileo lived in for most of his life. In fact, he died in his estate while serving out his life-long house-arrest sentence issued by the Inquisition, as they found him guilty of heresy. |
Firenze is a centaur with white-blond hair and blue eyes. Firenze is the only centaur willing to be in close contact with humans.
Firenze first encounters Harry in his first year, during Harry's nighttime expedition into the Forbidden Forest as detention punishment. Firenze returns Harry to safety after Harry sees Voldemort kill a unicorn.
In Harry's fifth year, after the dismissal of Professor Trelawney, Firenze accepts the offer to teach Divination. This makes him 'Professor Firenze'.
