Word / Name Origins

fleur = flower (French), de la cour = from the Court (French)both underlining the prettiness of Fleur, being part-Veela.

Fleur Delacour was a student at Beauxbatons, the French counterpart of Hogwarts, and is Bill Weasley's future bride, with the wedding taking place presumably at the start of Book Seven. Fleur was Beauxbatons' candidate in the Triwizard Tournament. She has a little sister, Gabrielle Delacour.

No birth date has yet been confirmed in canon, or by JK Rowling. However, she would have had to have been "of age" when she was picked by the Goblet of Fire for the Triwizard Tournament, which means she would have been at least been 17 years old by Halloween in 1994. Using that as a basis, she would have been born around 1977.

It is unknown if Fleur has any similar powers to full Veela, which turn into fierce bird-like creatures when angry.

Personal Life

Fleur falls in love with Bill Weasley. After having finished school - in Harry's fifth year - she takes on a job at Gringotts in London, officially 'to improve her English', while Bill's presence there may have played a role too. In Harry's sixth year, she comes to stay with the Weasleys and announces to Harry that she and Bill are to wed. Mrs Weasley and Ginny in particular are unhappy with this decision, with Ginny giving her the nickname Phlegm (due to the guttural French accent).

However, when Bill is brutally mauled by a werewolf, Fleur's love for Bill is revealed to be much deeper than originally thought. Mrs Weasley, at Bill's bedside, considers calling off the wedding, but Fleur says passionately she is pretty enough for both of them and that they will both love each other regardless of what they look like. This sends both the women into tears and forms a deeper bond between them.

Fleur gets married in the Seventh book but their wedding is cut short when Death Eaters come and look for Harry. Sometime after Voldemort dies, she has her first girl, Victoire. She also has two other children with Bill Weasley, Dominique and Louis. This was revealed on J.K. Rowling's website around January 26th.
