Godric's Hollow
From Hpwiki
Godric's Hollow is a village (location is unknown) with one of the most active magic sub-communities in Britain. Many ancient wizarding families can be found in the graveyard; Some notable present and former inhabitants are:
- Godric Gryffindor, one of the four founders of Hogwarts, after whom the village is named
- Ignotus Peverell, the original owner of the Cloak of Invisibility now owned by Harry, and the youngest of the three Peverell brothers (whether the others once lived in Godric's Hollow is unknown)
- Kendra Dumbledore and her three children Albus, Aberforth and Ariana, after the conviction of her husband Percival
- Lily, James and Harry Potter, prior to the assassination of Lily and James on October 31, 1981. In the end, they used the Fidelius Charm to protect themselves against Lord Voldemort. This failed since their secret-keeper Peter Pettigrew betrayed them. A muggle war memorial in the town centre has been bewitched to show a statue of the family to witches and wizards. The ruins of their house remain, invisible to muggles, in tribute to the parents' tragic death, fitted with an explanatory sign.
- Bathilde Bagshot, famed historian and author of A History of Magic. She was the on speaking terms with Kendra Dumbledore, and a friend of both Albus Dumbledore and Muriel Weasley's mother.
Where Harry and Ginny Potter, Ron and Hermione Weasley and Teddy Lupin and his grandmother later moved to is not known, but Godric's Hollow appears possible, if not even likely.
Harry first returns, as predicted in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, to Godric's Hollow in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to visit his parents' graves, meet Bathilda Bagshot, and, ideally, retrieve Gryffindor's sword.
