Gryffindor

Gryffindor is one of the four houses of Hogwarts. These houses are named after the four founders of Hogwarts, this one after Godric Gryffindor. Harry Potter belongs to this house. Gryffindor is the natural rival of Slytherin. The Sorting Hat characterizes this house as follows:
- "You might belong in Gryffindor,
- Where dwell the brave at heart,
- Their daring, nerve and chivalry
- Set Gryffindors apart."

This house's emblem is a golden lion. The house colors (e.g., for the Quidditch robes) are scarlet and gold. The head of Gryffindor house is Professor McGonagall. The house ghost is Nearly Headless Nick.
Gryffindor house is located in Gryffindor Tower, the entrance of which is the portrait of the Fat Lady -- though Sir Cadogan stepped in for a portion of Harry's third year.
