Hannah Abbott

Hannah Abbott is a Hufflepuff in Harry's year. She became a Prefect during her fifth year and a member of Dumbledore's Army. She has blonde hair that was worn in pigtails during her first year, and she has the unfortunate distinction to be the first in their year to crack under the pressure of OWLs, breaking down in Herbology and declaring she was "too stupid" to take her exams. This was treated by Madam Pomfrey with a Calming Draught. In her third year, Hannah had thought that Sirius Black, who at the time was thought to be a mass murderer, could turn into a flowering shrub. This was found out to be wrong.

She was among a group of Hufflepuffs who believed Harry to be the Heir of Slytherin during their second year. During their third year, she thought Sirius Black could turn into a flowering shrub. (Close, but not quite.) She supported her housemate Cedric Diggory over Harry Potter as the Hogwarts champion in the Triwizard Tournament during her fourth year. During her Transfiguration OWL, she accidentally wound up with a flock of flamingos from a single ferret. Most sadly, during her sixth year, her mother was killed by Death Eaters, and Hannah was pulled out of Herbology and has not returned to the school.

Despite small incidents, she is on friendly terms with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

In The Deathly Hallows, Harry and Hermione visit James and Lily's graves in Godric's Hollow. In the graveyard, they see another grave with the name Abbott on, causing them to speculate about whether it could be a relative of Hannah's.

In a Post-DH interview, JKR revealed that Hannah married Neville Longbottom and became the land lady of The Leaky Cauldron, the pub which provides the entrance from Muggle London to Diagon Alley. Students taught by Neville thought the fact that they lived in a pub "cool".
