Lavender Brown

Lavender Brown is a student in the Gryffindor house of Hogwarts, in the same year as Harry. Lavender is subject to a prediction of Professor Trelawney. Nonetheless, she is as much fascinated by Divination as Parvati Patil. Both of them are members in Dumbledore's Army.

Lavender is giggly and a bit of a gossip, always chatting to Parvati. She is friendly enough to Harry and Ron, but less so with Hermione. Her rabbit dies in her third year, and Hermione is not very comforting- although this was owing to Hermione's stressed condition at the time.

Lavender dated Ron Weasley in the sixth book and was called "Lav-Lav" by Ron. Lavender apparently developed this liking for Ron early in the book or before- thereafter she giggles loudly at his jokes and looks at him. When she encourages him before a Quidditch match, he improves drastically.

Lavender and Ron's relationship was displayed as rather disgusting, however, with Rowling using descriptions such as "a vertical wrestling match" when they kissed, and Ginny describes it as, "it's as if he's eating her face off, isn't it?". Ron, however, tires of Lavender, becoming embarassed in her company and even more so when she sends him a necklace. Eventually, the two have an argument, and break up, leaving Lavender in tears.

Many readers detest Ron and Lavender's relationship and appreciate how it was depicted in the books.
