| Ludo from the Latin meaning "to play.". Bagman = A person who collects money, as for racketeers. |
Ludovic "Ludo" Bagman works for the Ministry of Magic as the head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports. A former Beater on the England Quidditch team, he is enthusiastic about sports but sloppy in his business. Privately, Ludovic Bagman organizes bidding on sports events, which some time will cause him trouble...
While playing with the Wimbourne Wasps, Bagman was accused of leaking information to Augustus Rookwood. Bagman was placed at an informal trial in front of the Wizengamot, where he admitted passing the information to Rookwood, but denied having any knowledge of Rookwood's affiliation with Lord Voldemort. The jury was split, with even some members of the Wizengamot congratulating him on his career in sports. This was, however something that Barty Crouch Sr. met with much distaste. In the end, Bagman was acquitted of all charges.
Ludo dissapeared at the end of the Book 4, presumably due to a large debt of money owed to Goblins.
