Molly Weasley

Molly Weasley is the matriarch of the entire Weasley gang at Hogwarts and the wife of Arthur Weasley. She is described as a plump woman with red hair like the rest of the family and treats Harry Potter like a son. She knits a lot of jumpers, which she gives to her family members and Harry as Christmas presents.

Personality

Mrs Weasley is brought across as a very motherly figure in the books. She handles most of the chores, dotes upon her children, and maintains discipline in the Weasley family. She is loving and kind, if strict. Her discipline maintained in the Weasley household is frequently mentioned by the Weasley children, particularly Ron. Among the things she bans her children from doing include playing tricks on muggles (eg Dudley), going into Knockturn Alley, and using Extendable Ears to eavesdrop on Order of the Phoenix meetings. Mrs Weasley's long arm of the law is felt even by her husband, Arthur Weasley, particularly when he is caught dabbling in Muggle medicine and technology.

Mrs Weasley is very concerned with the safety of her children and husband, as well as Harry, who she treats like another son. Her greatest fear is them all dying, as revealed in an encounter with a Boggart which she couldn't banish. Molly is viewed as the closest thing to a mother that Harry has. She fusses around him, making sure that he has enough to eat at all times, and is sometimes overprotective of him, as shown in Book Five, when she tries to stop Harry from learning more about Voldemort's plans.

She is also very distraught over the estrangement of her third oldest son, Percy. Percy does not respond to any of her attempts to reconcile with him and sends his Christmas jumper back unopened, leaving Mrs. Weasley inconsolable.

In Book Seven, Molly killed Bellatrix Lestrange in a duel during the final battle at Hogwart's. Molly, having just lost her son Fred during the battle, reacted quickly when Bellatrix aimed to kill her daughter Ginny. We learn from this that she is not only a loving mother, unwilling to lose another child at the hands of the Death Eaters, but that she is also an accomplished dueller.

In Harry's fifth year, Molly is a member of the Order of the Phoenix.

Maiden name Prewett. Sister to Fabian Prewett and Gideon Prewett both killed by a Death Eater Antonin Dolohov.

Thee has been speculation around Molly Weasley's Birth date. This is because in the goblet of fire, she talks of there being a different gamekeeper when she was at Hogwarts. As all Chamber of Secrets members know, Hagrid has been gamekeeper for 52 years by the Goblet of Fire. This would have to mean that Molly was over 69 years of age, as she left Hogwarts at age 17 without ever meeting Hagrid. This is hard to believe seeing as she has a 14 year old daughter.
