Prefect

A Prefect is a student of a higher class with the authority to rule other students regarding behaviour, in order to carry out general order of the school or special orders from the teachers. Prefects are nominated in their fifth year - a boy and a girl for each of the four houses in Hogwarts.
Prefects wear a badge that shows a large 'P' on top of the house emblem. For Gryffindor prefects, the badge is golden, which suggests that the badges of Slytherin prefects are silver, those of the Ravenclaw prefects bronze, and those of the Hufflepuff prefects black.
In Harry's fifth year, the following prefects are nominated:
- Slytherin: Draco Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson
- Gryffindor: Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger
- Ravenclaw: Anthony Goldstein and Padma Patil
- Hufflepuff: Ernie Macmillan and Hannah Abbott
