Rufus Scrimgeour
From Hpwiki
Harry: You never it right, you people, do you? Either we've got Fudge, pretending everything's lovely while poeple get murdered right under his nose, or we've got you, chucking the wrong people into jail and trying to pretend you've got the 'Chosen One' working for you!
"The Prime Minister's first, foolish thought was that Rufus Scrimgeour looked rather like an old lion." (HBP, page 16)
| Word / Name Origins |
| Rufus is a Latin name meaning "redhead." |
Rufus Scrimgeour Newly elected Minister for Magic, replacing Cornelius Fudge. Previously Head of the Auror Office in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, he walks with a limp and wants Harry to work for the Ministry, to be a figurehead.
Scrimgeour rowed with Dumbledore about access to Harry and also where he goes when he leaves Hogwarts.
Scrimegour does try to recruit Harry Potter as "The Ministry's Man" based on his fame and popularity. However, given the previous administrations treatment of him, as well as the current administrations policies (i.e. Arresnting Stan Shunpike on suspicion of being a Death Eater, and leaving him in Azkaban because releasing him would bad P.R.))
Luna Lovegood believes Scrimgeour to be a vampire, based on articles in The Quibbler, but there is no solid evidence to support this. However, suspiciously, someone from the Ministry of Magic forced her father not to publish the story.
| Preceded by Cornelius Fudge | Minister of Magic | Succeeded by Pius Thicknesse |
