Slytherin

Slytherin is one of the four houses of Hogwarts. These houses are named after the four founders of Hogwarts, this one after Salazar Slytherin. Slytherin is the natural rival of Gryffindor, Harry's own house. In the words of the Sorting Hat, Slytherin's character is this:
- "Or perhaps in Slytherin
- You'll make your real friends,
- Those cunning folk use any means
- To achieve their ends."
The people in Slytherin house are sly and tend to lean towards the dark side. This house's emblem is a silver serpent. Salazar Slytherin chose a serpent because he is a parselmouth, which is a rare quality in the wizarding world. The house colours are green and silver. The current head of Slytherin house is Professor Snape. The house ghost is the Bloody Baron.
Slytherin house is located in the dungeons of Hogwarts.

The Slytherin Quidditch Team
The Slytherins held the House Cup for seven years until they were defeated by Gryffindor in 1991 , the year Harry first played. In 1992 the entire team received new Nimbus Two Thousand and One brooms as a gift from Lucius Malfoy. There are no girls on the Slytherin team during the books so far, although in the CoS film there were girls on the team.
