St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries (St. Mungo's) is a wizard hospital specializing in wizarding medicine and magic-related injuries. It was founded by Mungo Bonham in the late 15th or early 16th century. Healers at St. Mungo's wear lime-green robes with an embroidered emblem of a crossed wand and bone on their chests.

St. Mungo's in located in Muggle London because there wasn't enough space in Diagon Alley and underground was considered unhealthy. St. Mungo's is accessed via Purge and Dowse, Ltd., a red-brick, old-fashioned Muggle department store baring signs proclaiming "Closed for Refurbishment". To enter, one speaks to an ugly, female mannequin in the window display, who nods and beckons. One then steps through the glass and into the reception area.

St. Mungo's consists of six levels:

  • Ground floor - Artefact Accidents (ex. cauldron explosions, wand backfiring, broom crashes)
  • First floor - Creature-Induced Injuries (ex. bites, stings, burns, embedded spines, etc.)
  • Second floor - Magical Bugs (ex. contagious maladies - eg. dragon pox, vanishing sickness, scrofungulus, etc.)
  • Third floor - Potions and Plant Poisoning (ex. rashes, regurgitation, uncontrollable giggling, etc.)
  • Fourth floor - Spell Damage (ex. unliftable jinxes, hexes, incorrectly applied charms, etc.)
  • Fifth floor - Visitors' Tearoom & Hospital Shop

Arthur Weasley was taken to St. Mungo's after being attacked by a giant snake in OotP. Gilderoy Lockhart and Frank and Alice Longbottom reside in the long-term residents' ward for permanent spell damage.
