| Word / Name Origins |
| Vincent - From the Roman name Vincentius, which was from Latin vincere "to conquer"; also known to have been used in 1592 to mean the dupe in a betting game. Crabbe - From a nickname for someone with an odd gait, like a crab; a quarrelsome or ill-tempered person, as a shortening of crabapple. |
Vincent Crabbe is a student in the Slytherin house of Hogwarts, in the same year as Harry Potter. Crabbe is one of the two 'bodyguards' of Draco Malfoy, the other being Gregory Goyle. There is no sense in making any distinction between the two of them: Both are big, heavy, stupid, and slow. In their fifth year, Crabbe and Goyle are both Beaters on the Slytherin House Quidditch team.
Crabbe's father is a Death Eater.
In Book Seven, Crabbe dies in the Room of Requirement when he casts a Fiendfyre spell that grows out of control, consuming him and all other things in the Room at the time.
