Parselmouth

A Parselmouth is the term used for a person who can speak Parseltongue, the snake language.
In the wizarding world Parselmouths have a reputation to be evil witches or wizards, most likely due to their relation to Salazar Slytherin and Lord Voldemort. The exception being Harry Potter.

Notable Parselmouths include:
- Salazar Slytherin One of the four founders of Hogwarts
- Marvolo Gaunt Descendant of Slytherin, Grandfather of Voldemort
- Morfin Gaunt Descendant of Slytherin, Uncle of Voldemort
- Merope Gaunt Descendant of Slytherin, Mother of Voldemort
- Voldemort Descendant of Slytherin
- Harry Potter is able to speak and understand parseltongue throughout the series due to a piece of Voldemort's soul which has been inside of him since the killing curse backfired which made Harry Voldemort's sixth Horcrux also giving him the lightening shaped scar on his forehead. During the final book Voldemort attempts to kill Harry again using Avada Kedavra thus killing a horcrux as Voldemort was not aware Harry was one, Due to this The link between them was severed and Harry loses the ability to speak Parselmouth although, he keeps his scar.
- Ron Weasley uses Parseltongue in the final book to reopen the Chamber of Secrets, although it took him several attempts and he is not able to properly speak or understand it.
